ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION SPECIALIST

Summary

Duties

You will assist the Supervisory Environmental Protection Specialist on various sampling projects or personally sampling lead paint, asbestos, PCB, hazardous waste, drinking water, storm water, monitoring wells.

You will track projects through completion by monitoring resources for the job, funding availability and balance, and completion timetables.

You will pick up, transports, repackages and properly stores hazardous and industrial wastes from various projects.

You will identify and report unsafe, unhealthy, or out-of-compliance environmental situations to leadership.

Qualifications

Your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:1) Demonstrated understanding of hazardous material properties, chemical compatibility, and waste stream characterization protocols.2) Solid working knowledge of and state/local environmental regulations regarding the storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous materials.3) Inspecting, documenting, labeling, and packing hazardous waste for transport.4) Apply knowledge by provide information of hazardous materials properties to the Installation Environmental Program Director (IEPD).5) Operating varied automotive, materials handling equipment including a forklift operator license. Other information This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement Program. A Cost-of-Living-Allowance (COLA) of 8.64% will be added to the stated salary.
