Summary

About the Position: Serves as a Defense Travel Administrator in the Programs and Policy Division at Headquarters, for Army Transportation Command ARTRANS. Selection may be at either GS-9 or GS-11 level. Position is eligible for regular and recurring telework per the command policy. It is not eligible for FULL TIME telework.

Duties

Provide advice, assistance, and guidance covering a wide variety of travel-related financial program requirements for the Military Surface Deployment and Distribution Command (SDDC), SDDC's subordinate units and staff offices.

Provides guidance and customer service for the Travel Program to assist to travelers, Approving Officials, Certifying Officers, Accounting and Budget personnel.

Ensures the processing and/or reviewing of Defense Travel System (DTS) travel documents.

Provide support for the control and coordination of all required actions for the successful deployment, operation and management of the Government Travel Charge Card (GTCC) program for all SDDC military and civilian personnel.

Supports financial management execution in DTS.

Provide customer service and/or assistance to travelers, approving officials, certifying officers, and budget personnel.

Identifies potential discrepancies, develops corrective action plans, and ensures compliance of the Command's travel regulation compliance program.

To Qualify for the GS-09: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes;1) advising personnel on appropriate travel and transportation methods; 2) maintaining accountability for the disbursement of allocated funds; 3) remaining up to date on travel regulations, procedures, and directives; and 4) performing travel administrator duties using a travel software application. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). OR Education: Master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the first year (total graduate semester hours minus 18) by 18. Add the two percentages. To Qualify for the GS-11: Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes; 1) providing guidance on travel-related financial programs 2) managing Defense Travel System (DTS) functions such as processing and approving travel documents; 3) Coordinating and supporting the Government Travel Charge Card (GTCC) program, to ensure compliance; 4) Ensuring accurate financial data input to avoid rejected documents or debt issues; 5) Serving as a liaison within agencies to support effective travel program operations. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Compliance Customer Service Emotional Intelligence Financial Management Systems Oral Communication Time in Grade Requirement for GS-9: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-07). Time in Grade Requirement for GS-11: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
